WITI Celebrates 19 Years of Recognizing and Honoring Women's Achievements in Science and Technology From Around the World
San Jose, CA, October 23, 2013 - WITI (Women In Technology International) today announced that the nomination process for its 19th Women in Science and Technology Hall of Fame Awards for 2014 is now open.
The WITI Hall of Fame award, considered to be among the most prestigious honors for women in science and technology, was established to recognize the notable contributions of women who are leading innovation in science and technology and who have also demonstrated a commitment to supporting and mentoring women and girls worldwide.
WITI encourages anyone to cast their vote for women they believe are thought leaders and change agents in science and technology. Notable Hall of Famers include Sandy Carter, Vice President Social Business Evangelism and Sales, IBM, Gwynne Shotwell, President, SpaceX, and Sophie Vandebroek, PhD, CTO & President, Xerox Innovation Group. All Hall of Fame candidates must be nominated by a second party in order to receive consideration. The nomination submission deadline is January 15, 2014 for candidates to be inducted in the 2014 calendar year. In February, the nomination forms are sent to an independent panel of judges. The inductees are selected and notified shortly thereafter and inducted at an annual ceremony scheduled to take place on June 2, 2014. Nominees must be personally available to accept the WITI Hall of Fame Award. The WITI Hall of Fame was launched in 1996 to provide a forum to recognize, celebrate and publicize the work of women whose contributions to science and technology are largely being ignored and lost in history.
